The Purpose of this Blog

A Tremendous Blessing

I am in awe that I get to be a mental health professional. Many people I know think it is odd that I love my job as a therapist as I "hear about people's problems all day" and that sounds "hard" and "exhausting" to others. Yet I feel very differently. It is an honor to listen to other's stories, challenges, and triumphs and join them for a short time on their journey.

We come to this Earth with different gifts, interests, and challenges. Often times I find myself wishing that I had a friend or family member's talent, only to realize that I am not noticing or honoring the ones I have and enjoying how others' talents are there to bless them and me too. (What a tremendous blessing we are all different with different interests and talents).

Challenges often Lead to Blessings too

I have come to realize that my interest in truly connecting with others and never tiring learning about our neurobiology, trauma, relationships, mental health, and more are not things everyone can relate to. It was this realization after helping a loved one battle deep mental illness that led me to become a mental health professional. Being able to combine two of my passionate interests into a profession that allows me to do what I love each day feels like a dream come true.

What to Expect

Because I am passionate about learning and helping others, creating this blog seems like a natural extension of those passions. Although countless other resources center on these topics, I will be using this site to share articles, excerpts from books, quizzes, worksheets, podcasts, TedTalks, YouTube videos, my own self-growth, and experiences I have with clients (while maintaining confidentiality), and much more to further my education and expertise.

If you are not a mental health junkie like myself and would like helpful information compiled for you that will hopefully allow you to better understand yourself and your relationships, and in turn allow you to better connect to and love yourself and the meaningful people in your life, then follow me on this journey.

My Hope for You

I am incredibly grateful for life challenges that have shed light on some of my talents/passions that bring me joy and bless others too. I hope that this site can help you better see blessings in your challenges and maybe find talents and passions you did not quite clearly see before that will bless you and others as well.
